Teachers’ Perceptions on the Implementation of Common European Framework Reference (CEFR) in an ESL Classroom: The Malaysian Context

The change of the English curriculum in Malaysia is no longer foreign and has brought about mixed opinions from different parties. Teachers being main executor new should be given more channels to have their known. implementation CEFR entering its Phase 3, where feedback in-service teachers need for documentation. Several studies were conducted; however those only covered West Malaysia. importance teachers’ voices East not over shadowed. This paper covers perceptions on Malaysian ESL classroom. study was conducted among 105 Sibu, Sarawak. Sarawak known largest state Questionnaire used as tool data collection with a 6 Likert scale through goggle form. SPSS version 23 analyzed tabulate data. result shows that are showing positive responses CEFR. However, show challenges encountered during administration CEFR, including lack materials, students’ familiarity approach familiarity. Suggestions further research focus upper secondary it implemented early 2020.
